HAPPY HOLIDAYS
Christmas Eve Day, I know religion plays a role in everyday life, some of you may have a different religion and thats ok. Some of you may be atheists. I just want to take this time as a lot of us start to celebrate the holidays. New Years Eve is coming and thats when we either make primoses to hit the gym or get our script completed. Maybe we get some new equipment and you're ready to to get out there and show it off. It's a fun time for a lot of people right now.
It's also a time for stress. Some people go through a lot of hard times. Maybe you lost someone you care about and can't share the holidays with them anymore. Maybe things aren't working out for you and you have no direction.
I want all of you to know, no matter the situation, one of the biggest things about being a team and working together, is supporting each other. No looking to push anyone down, but help lift people up when you can.
We all have our differences, but in this group, here in my ideal world, we are here to support each other. This is how I was raised. I owe that to my mother.
I learned some valuable lessons in life that taught me about gratitude, kindness and when people don't see eye to eye, just become a listener. Try that as an exercise. Instead of talking, just listen to others. Show them you're listening.
I grew up in a world of pain and anger from many people, but was also given a lot of love.
As a filmmaker & screenwriter you would think that I would have some really nice things to write about. In fact its the very opposite. I grew up where I wasn't aloud to speak my mind or I'd get smacked in the face, beat, or told I was the dumbest person in the world. It broke me at a young age. My mother feared for my safety and yet no one was able to help me. That's how it felt growing up. Yes there were some good times, but the darkness overshadowed the moments I should have remembered.
From 14-17 was the darkest times of my life, until I discovered Acting & Filmmaking. It gave me purpose. It gave me something that not only made me feel good about myself, but it was like therapy.
I'm trying to write a nice message here for everyone, the thing we shouldn't forget, is that this is a time when some people feel trapped or overwhelmed with sorrow. They go through so much pain, they basically shut down and become angry or distraught.
These emotions you go through in life are to be used in your gift. Write about it, get the words out and instead of venting to others or feeling shamed, WRITE a story that makes you feel better. Start with a short story. But write about it. Share it with us. We are not a group to judge others work. We know scripts can get really crazy, but we should always try to encourage people more often. Be real, but respectful.
Of course, if its horrifically terrifying, people may want to say something about it. I encourage we all try to keep some sort of professional boundaries, but we also need to give each other some respect too.
Just think about what you write and send to the group out of respect, please.
In the meantime, try and take the next week or so and find some happiness and joy. Help someone out there. Enjoy time with your loved ones and be safe.
HAPPY HOLIDAYS, MERRY CHRISTMAS.
Thank you everyone.
