Habits
Today I was listening to a podcast about habits and how us human are very habit oriented. The podcast broke it into 4 parts. Every habit follows a simple four-step loop: cue, craving, response, and reward. A habit begins with a cue that triggers the brain to act automatically, followed by a craving—the desire for a change in state or feeling. This craving drives the response, which is the behavior itself, and that behavior leads to a reward. The reward satisfies the craving and reinforces the behavior, teaching the brain that this pattern is worth repeating. Over time, this loop runs on autopilot, shaping much of our daily behaviour and explaining why habits—both good and bad—play such a powerful role in our lives.
