Block ads & trackers on EVERY device with Pi-hole on a Raspberry Pi 5 + Unbound (recursive DNS) — with a SAFE “test one device first” rollout, plus a clean rollback so you don’t accidentally take your Wi-Fi down. Pi-hole is a network-wide DNS ad blocker (works great for most ads/trackers), but it won’t reliably block YouTube ads (DNS can’t always separate ads vs video).
✅ What you’ll learn:
- Raspberry Pi 5 Pi-hole setup (Raspberry Pi OS Lite 64-bit)
- Static IP the clean way (router DHCP reservation)
- Add Unbound for private recursive DNS
- Safely test Pi-hole on ONE device first
- Roll out to the whole house using Pi-hole DHCP (when your router can’t set DNS)
- Roll back safely if anything breaks
