Dry Skin: How to prevent dry, flaky skin and itching
1️⃣ Don’t Over-Bathe Most dogs only need a bath every 3–6 weeks. Bathing too often strips natural oils.
2️⃣ Use a Gentle, Dog-Safe Shampoo
Look for:
✔ Oatmeal✔ Aloe✔ Coconut oil Avoid strong fragrances and medicated shampoos unless vet recommended.
3️⃣ Brush Regularly Brushing: • Distributes natural oils• Removes dead skin• Improves circulation
(2–3 times a week for most coats)
4️⃣ Support Skin from the Inside• Make sure your dog drinks plenty of water• Omega-3s (fish oil) can help — ask your vet for dosage
5️⃣ Moisturize the Air If you use AC often, a humidifier can help prevent dry skin.
6️⃣ Watch for Red Flags If you see: 🚩 Excessive itching🚩 Hot spots🚩 Redness or sores
That’s a sign to check with a vet.
  • “What breed is your dog?”
  • “Short, long, or curly coat?”
  • “Is this something you struggle with?”
  • “Drop a 🐾 if this helped!”
