Where do you see the future of Voice AI? Open Source vs Vendor Lock In
Hey everyone, I’m excited to be here and learn more about open-source Voice AI.
To be honest, I can’t bring much value by answering questions since I don’t have much experience with open source yet.
So I think the best way I can bring value to this community is actually by asking questions and opening new debates.
So here comes my question: how do you see the future of Voice AI in terms of open source vs. closed solutions?
What I clearly see is that when the technology first appeared, platforms like RetellAI and VAPI (and many other startups) saw an opportunity and started monetizing the demand.
But in the last few months, I’ve seen how frameworks like Pipecat or LiveKit Agents have become real platforms for developing solutions.
I’m curious to hear your thoughts on this, especially from people with more experience than me.
Do you see open source becoming the new standard for Voice AI?
Are vendor lock-in platforms at risk?
