I’ll be working on my curbs again later today. Stairs haven’t been too bad when I have a handrail but the last step, similar to a curb, where I don’t have the rail and must use both crutches has been “fun” to say the least. This video was my best curb step last week. The plan is to pick up from this point today, fingers crossed.

Hi, I’m Tara, Vice President of Onward Motion, an author, artist, and storyteller with a stubborn streak and a creative brain that refuses to sit quietly. I’m a para due to an in-utero stroke, which means disability has always been part of my story, but never the whole plot. Through Onward Motion Academy, I want to help build a space where people can learn, connect, ask real questions, and discover practical tools for living life with more confidence, creativity, and independence. I’ve always been creative. Writing and art have been part of me for as long as I can remember. I love horseback riding, swimming, animals of all kinds, and the smell of fresh-cut grass on a summer day. I’m happiest when I’m making something, learning something, laughing about something, or finding the next adventure. Life beyond disability doesn’t have to be polished or perfect. It can be bold, funny, beautiful, messy, and entirely worth showing up for.

This is the place to introduce yourself, say hello, and find your people. Tell us where you’re from, what you’re into, what kind of friends you’re hoping to meet, and one random fact about yourself. No pressure. No awkward spotlight. Just good conversation, new connections, and hopefully a few “wait, you too?” moments.
