Hey everyone, long overdue update 👋
I haven’t posted much lately, but I’ve been in here every day, just quiet on the posting front. Behind the scenes though? Anything but quiet. A few things I want to give you a heads up on: 🛠️ Store overhaul in progress We’re rebuilding the entire online store from the ground up. New theme, new products, and way stronger offers built specifically for this community. Expect more free and heavily discounted product drops once it’s live. Not ready yet, but it’s close, and it’s going to be a big upgrade. 🎁 Giveaways coming in October We’re running product giveaways next month too. Details coming closer to launch, but keep an eye out, free gear is on the way. 🤝 Something big for reviewers We’ve taken a lot of your feedback to heart this year, and running a community like this comes with real challenges on our end too. We’ve been working hard on a way to make this a genuine win-win, including a way for members to actually earn commissions off the reviews you’re already doing. This one’s exciting, more details soon. 🎸 New branded product dropping Not ready to name it yet, but we’ve got something launching that I’m genuinely pumped about. I’ll be back in about a week or so with the full reveal. We are going to finish off the year strong, and I’m very grateful to have you all along for the ride. 🙏

Upgrade
One of the things that has hindered my posting of videos featuring my playing (yeah, I know. It’s scary) has been the perpetual lack of available memory in my trusty iPhone 11. It seems no matter how much I delete, there is still never enough available memory. Living in lack is not my idea of a good time, so the next phone will have 256GB of memory. That should give me a fair shot at actually posting something besides stills.
Guitar 'set up'
Ok,I am usually the guy who rolls his eyes when guitar setup is mentioned, and I usually mention how old my guitars are, and that they have never been set up as far as I know. I finally got curious enough to put a metal a straight edge on the frets (I have an 18" metal ruler that is perfect), my 43 year old Peavey Patriot showed maybe a mm or more of space between the edge and the 9th fret. I adjusted the truss rod and after a bit of tightening, when I spanned the frets, the straight edge was right at the point where the straight edge was just starting to touch the center frets, I checked it out, and the action was kind of like look at the guitar and say A, and it plays A. I decided while I was at it, I would adjust the pickups a little, and now, it's just a rock and roll machine! I played it a couple of days until I couldn't stand the itch any longer, and swapped the Peavey out for my 06 Strat, and ran the same deal on it. I first found that it FELT like the truss rod was getting looser as I turned the Allen nut clockwise, and my measurement seemed to bear that out, so I went with what was working, it seemed like a lot of turning, but eventually I got to the point where it was a fair fit getting an omni guitars business card between the center frets and the straight edge. I tuned it up, and adjusted the pickups a bit, and it is just a delight to play now. There may be room for improvement, but I am in no hurry to play with my bridges or my nuts... no pun intended.

If you could steal one guitarist's ability...
If you could magically acquire the ability of any guitarist—past or present—whose ability would you take? I'm thinking we might find some awesome guitarists we're not familiar with to check out. Even if they're famous, they may not play in a genre we don't listen to. I'm leaning toward Stevie Ray Vaughn.
