Stress… fascia … graceful movement
Stress 🚩has a significant impact on fascia — the connective tissue network that surrounds and supports muscles, organs, and other structures in the body. When you experience stress, both physical and emotional, your fascia can respond in several ways:
🚩
Stress activates the body’s “fight or flight” response, causing muscles to tighten. Because fascia is interconnected with muscle fibers, this tension spreads through the fascial network, leading to stiffness, restricted movement, and discomfort.
🚩
Fascia relies on fluid movement to stay supple and glide smoothly. Chronic stress can reduce circulation and hydration in fascial tissues, making them sticky or “glued down,” which contributes to pain and limited flexibility.
🚩
Ongoing stress raises cortisol and other stress hormones, which can promote low-grade inflammation. This inflammation may irritate fascial tissues, increasing sensitivity and pain perception.
🚩
Emotional stress often changes how you hold your body — for example, hunching shoulders or clenching the jaw. Over time, these patterns create fascial imbalances and tension lines that reinforce discomfort.
🚩
Stress interferes with the body’s ability to repair and regenerate tissues, including fascia. This can slow healing after injury or strain.
