Ready to Bid on a Government Contract? Here’s What You Need First!
Hi everyone
I see a lot of business owners getting excited about government contracts which is great! But before you jump into bidding, make sure you’ve got your foundation right. These few things can make or break your first bid:
* Get Your Business Registered
Form your LLC or corporation and secure your EIN. Without that, you can’t even get started legally.
* Sort Out Compliance
Depending on your industry, you may need HIPAA, BBP, or safety certifications. Government agencies want proof you can operate responsibly.
*Have a Strong Capability Statement
This is your business resume ,a one-page summary of your strengths, past work, and services. It’s often the first thing contracting officers look at.
* Register on SAM.gov
You’ll need your UEI number and SAM registration to qualify for federal bids. Without it, you can’t get awarded a contract.
*Be Financially & Professionally Ready
Have your insurance, financial records, and a clean brand presence logo, website, capability deck that shows you mean business.
Once these pieces are in place, you can confidently start going after RFQs, RFPs, and subcontracts.
How far along are you in your setup?
