I’m experimenting with a mild form of Alex Becker’s “Nightmare Mode” dopamine detox
Just search that on YouTube (I’d post a link, but I blocked YouTube on my phone 😂)
The idea is that you restrict things in your life that give you pleasure so that you’re bored out of your mind. The consequence is that you start to find enjoyment from things that release smaller amounts of dopamine, like learning a language or working out.
So you eat boring food, delete all social media from your phone, cut out women, stop watching tv or netflix, stop scrolling your favourite news sites, all that crap. Anything that brings pleasure or joy, you cut it out and then you get really really bored…but then soon you start getting excited for boring stuff like work.
So right now it’s 7am and I’m working…kind of. A month ago I would have been lying in bed scrolling Twitter or watching YouTube
