Seven characteristics of a Mystic, according to Richard Burke (1837-1902)
Mystic, Richard Burke, was a superintendent of two Canadian asylums for the insane. He published a well-known book, the Comic Consciousness. He describes cosmic consciousness as “a transpersonal awareness of the universal mind and Oneness with it.”
He points out these seven characteristics of Mystic character:
*A Mystic has an intuitive, non-intellectual and inevitable understanding of the divine
  • They have an elevated moral awareness and inability to hurt others, (including animals)
  • They enjoy freedom from a sense of guilt, sin, and fear
  • They have an awareness and acceptance of immortality
  • They feel freedom from death
  • They can identify a peak experience or a particular moment/s of transformation in their lives
  • They have experienced intellectual illumination or revelation”
Do you relate to any of these experiences?
