Thursday's Thought
Most people assume self-discovery looks like: finding, adding, achieving, becoming, transforming, expanding.
But often the deeper process looks more like: subtracting noise, dropping performance, ending compensations, releasing identities maintained from obligation, and stepping away from environments that keep the nervous system constantly braced.
Then something underneath begins to emerge.
Not a “new self.”
The existing one… without so much interference.
I think many people are exhausted not because they are broken, but because they have become too adapted to lives that require constant performance.
Sometimes healing is not becoming someone else.
Sometimes it is finally feeling safe enough to stop being who you had to be.
