بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم
As all of us should know, seeking knowledge, including memorising the Quran, Duas, studying Islamic sciences, are very important for us as Muslims and is not just something that is restricted to a few people.
Unfortunately, we see that in our times ignorance is very prevalent within the ummah across different age ranges. There are many elders, youngsters who do not know how to read the Quran properly, in its correct way, for instance. And Alhamdulillah, in our times we have the blessing of having many online platforms and courses where Muslims of all ages, young and old, can learn and study the Quran. So we should take advantage of that if we cannot find a teacher offline.
It is important to remember that Allah has blessed the people of these current times with technological advancements, including access to the internet, remote learning etc with which it is easier in some way for us, in contrast to the people of the past to seek some knowledge, even if it may be a little as we have access to the internet, youtube and other platforms where Islamic knowledge is spread.
Rasoolullah صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ said:
'طَلَبُ الْعِلْمِ فَرِيضَةٌ عَلَى كُلِّ مُسْلِمٍ'
'Seeking knowledge is an obligation upon every muslim'
- Ibn Majah: 224
So, just as a reminder to myself and the brothers, do not let your trade or your business ever distract you from seeking knowledge and seek knowledge as much as you can and dedicate some time in your day or night to it, even if it be by reading one page a day off an Islamic book, or spending 15 minutes watching and taking notes off a recorded lesson.
