A New Perspective

Sometimes, you don’t need to change what you’re creating. You need to change the sense you’re creating it for. 🤯
I’ve been working on my audiobook recently, and it’s taught me something I didn’t expect.
There’s a difference between writing for the eyes and writing for the ears.
When I wrote my book, I focused on description.
I wanted to show rather than tell. I wanted the reader to feel immersed in the scene ; to see it, experience it, and get lost in the words.
But now that I’m preparing it for audio, the rules change.
The words have to work differently when they’re heard instead of seen.
Grammar isn’t the star.
Spelling isn’t the star.
The experience of listening is.
And that realization made me think about how often we do this in other areas of life and business.
We take something that worked in one environment and assume it should work the exact same way somewhere else.
It doesn’t.
What works in a book may not work in an audiobook.
What works on Instagram may not work on a podcast.
What works for learning may not work for selling.
What works for one audience may not work for another.
Same message. Different medium. Different experience. Different strategy.
Sometimes the answer isn’t to change the message.
It’s to change how the message is experienced.
That’s the shift I’m learning right now. And honestly?
It’s changing the way I think about EVERYTHING I create.
