Changes to Claude for Nonprofits
My favorite AI tool is now cheaper for non-profits! (Step by Step Instructions Here) Before you click read to the end.
Claude for Nonprofits is Anthropic's discounted AI plan for qualifying mission-driven organizations, including churches and 501(c)(3) nonprofits. It gives your team access to the same powerful Claude AI used by leading organizations, at a significant discount off regular pricing.
New Nonprofit Pricing:
  • Standard$8/user/month
  • Premium$40/user/month
Qualifying nonprofits receive up to 75% off regular Team and Enterprise plan pricing.
Recent changes worth noting:
1) The minimum seats dropped from 5 down to just 2 seats, making it more accessible for smaller organizations and churches
2) The maximum seats increased significantly from 20 up to 150 seats, opening the plan to much larger organizations before needing to contact sales for Enterprise pricing
3) Premium seats are now available at the nonprofit discount rate ($40/user/month), which previously was not offered
Things to know before applying:
1) Must be a Team plan or Enterprise plan (no individual plan discount)
2) Minimum of 2 seats required
3) Maximum of 150 seats on the self-serve Team plan; larger organizations need to contact sales for Enterprise pricing
4) The discount does not apply to API usage, only the Team and Enterprise plans
5) No annual reapplication required; the discount stays active as long as your nonprofit status remains valid
6) Claude Code and Cowork are included with every seat at no extra charge
7) Your organization must hold 501(c)(3) status (or international equivalent) to qualify
8) Religious organizations and churches can qualify, as long as they do not conflict with the anti-discrimination policies of Goodstack, Anthropic's verification partner
9) Verification takes about 2 to 3 minutes through Goodstack's online form
Special Note
Religious organizations and churches can qualify, though like most AI companies, Anthropic requires that organizations do not conflict with their verification partner's anti-discrimination policies.
The verification partner is Goodstack, and while they do not publicly disclose their exact policies, they do outline the due diligence checks they run on every applicant:
  • Sanction checks
  • Warning checks
  • Adverse media checks
  • Commercial checks
  • Controversial checks
  • Hate speech checks
Most churches should have no issue passing these checks, though it is worth noting that the definition of hate speech in particular has become an increasingly fluid standard, and what qualifies seems to vary depending on who is doing the interpreting.
