My change and how it's impacted my relationship with my family
My wife and I celebrated our 26th anniversary the other day by spending some time at a hotel retreat. While at dinner one night, she decided that we should say three things that we were proud of in each other as affirmations of our relationship. She surprised me when she mentioned how I had changed over the last couple of years, being much calmer now and stronger than I was before (mentally and physically) in overcoming daily challenges as one of the things she was proud of. She was especially proud of me for overcoming depression on my own without seeking medical assistance or the need to go on medication. She also mentioned that my change in perspective and behaviour now has had a significant impact on my relationship with her and the boys as well and that she was glad I made an effort to change. This was a true testament to my efforts to change myself, and I am glad that it is being seen and recognised by my loved ones. Life's challenges are often never easy, especially when you have a family. However, we do what we must for our families. Every day, I challenge myself to be better than I was previously for my family's sake. I know it's an ongoing process, but I am committed to continually raising my minimum standards every damn day. 🔥😊
