๐Ÿ“Œ Root Work: Episode 1 - Staying
Yesterday I spent over 2 hours in the bath. Memories I didn't know I'd buried came flooding in. Grief I couldn't name. My body shaking, then still, then shaking again.
I didn't try to fix it. I didn't reach for my phone. I didn't numb.
I put my hands on my stomach and said: "I see you. I'm here. I'm not leaving."
That's root work. Learning to stay.
Most of us learned early that no one was coming. So we left ourselves too. We abandoned ship before anyone else could.
The breathwork, the journaling, the somatic practices - they only work if you can stay long enough to let them land. Otherwise you're just going through motions while your nervous system waits for you to leave again.
Root work is becoming the one who doesn't leave.
Your turn: When was the last time you stayed with yourself through something hard instead of escaping? Drop it below.
Next week: The pattern underneath the pattern - how wounds that formed before memory still run your life.
