You cannot underestimate the POWER of a great portfolio (and great lighting is the key to great images which is why we are all here).
One of THE most important things you can do when building your portfolio (and, showcasing it to potential clients), is to know WHAT you are actually selling.
Meaning.... almost ALL well-paying clients for portrait photography or pet photos or weddings or babies or anything in-between, are buying into their STORY. And the story, is emotionally driven.
So, showcase emotionally driven images as the primary part of your portfolio!
If you shoot happy families, the images better show that!
Couple's in love, you better have romance in there.
Boudoir you better have sexy looking shots.
Here are a few examples of what I mean:
All of these images attached are not necessarily the most TECHNICALLY perfect shots, but they tell a story, have emotion and feel REAL and authentic.
These type of photographs (the ones that trigger and emotional response from our client) are the ones they will treasure more than anything else, will get them excited to share you to the world, and will command the highest prices!
