Congested Vs Disconnected
Since I use different versions of bodywork finding out when to use one vs when to use another has been something I've been working to differentiate. On my journey I've seen two different general ways people show up. Congested - tiredness, lethargic, foggy, sore. There flow in the body is slow and stuck. Then there is Disconnected- Numb, nerve entrapment, an error code in the body is going off. It's a communication issue.
I use something closer to a regular massage with congested and myofascial release for disconnected. I've found that using myofascial release for congested doesn't get as good of results and using regular massage for disconnected either doesn't anything or makes the problem worse. It's finding how one thing can not work at all or make things worse in one context and in another it does magic that nothing else can touch.
Has anyone else found things in their work that fallows this narrative?
