Tonight, You Have Permission to Rest
An Evening Encouragement for the Burned-Out Caregiver
Tonight, I want to speak to the caregiver who is running on empty.
You have spent another day meeting everyone else’s needs while quietly ignoring your own.
You’re physically exhausted, mentally drained, and emotionally overwhelmed. Yet somehow, you’re still wondering if you did enough.
Hear me tonight.
You cannot continue pouring from a cup that never gets refilled.
You are allowed to be tired. You are allowed to ask for help. You are allowed to admit that caregiving is harder than you ever imagined.
And you are allowed to rest without feeling guilty.
Not everything has to get done tonight. Some things can wait until tomorrow. And some responsibilities need to be shared.
God never asked you to carry every burden alone.
Matthew 11:28 reminds us:
“Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.”
Tonight, release what you cannot control. Ask for the support you need. Give yourself the same compassion you so freely give others.
Your health matters. Your peace matters. YOU matter.
Remember, taking care of yourself is part of taking care of the person you love.
Sleep peacefully tonight, knowing that your worth is not measured by how much you accomplished today.
Tomorrow is another opportunity to rise, but tonight, REST.
