Our Words Are Everything
My latest works involve highly detailed Mirror frames: The one I am currently working on is shaped like an elongated oval. I posted updates of the work on my Instagram (m_shap_art) and someone who saw my post commented that the piece reminded him of a portal. His Observation truly excited me as this was, in fact, what I was going for with this collection of works. I mentioned this to him and he asked me where I would want my portal to take me. This was such a lovely question and I decided to focus on the answer while I was busy working on it.
I started feeling emotional as one of my biggest gripes is feeling misunderstood by the people around me. And so I began writing the words "I want to be understood" on the mirror frame (My works are filled with hidden words and images - like a treasure hunt). While the message was true and honest, something about it felt wrong - as though the phrasing of the words would keep me in a state of feeling and being misunderstood.
Later that evening, while deep in a meditation, the words came to me in way that felt more intentional and in line with what I am aiming for:
"Take Me Where I Am Understood". This scratched the itch immediately.
Our words, whether written down, thought in our heads, or spoken out loud hold such power.
Just changing the format ever so slightly can have a massive impact on the outcome.
I look forward to my Portal - And I'll be happy to share it with you all when it works 😊
