Growing Morels
Last year I made a morel patch using the published method of exogenous nutrient bags. That did not fruit, and this patch is not that one. This patch was done using a spore slurry method to a woodchip pile, which was then spread to paths in a perennial garden. I used this same tek (spore slurry) on another property and got fruit for about 6 years with the same attempt. This is now repeatable for me. at a new property. If anyone wants to try this at home, you need a single dried landscape morel to start your inoculant with. Heading out for a morel hunt in a couple of weeks with some other Ladies of Mycology locally so this is a good prognostic indicator as our winter has been unseasonally dry.
The first pic is where I was transplanting a raspberry and realized that I should look for more morels. The second pic is my wood chip path. The third is where most fruit are - lining the interface of wood chips to mulch in the raised beds.
