What’s your preference? New or current?
Over the last decade I’ve spoken to a whole bunch of people who own their own businesses either by starting them from scratch or acquiring an existing business. Their opinions about their experience are highly personal but can provide great learnings from multiple viewpoints.
Personally, I’ve only had my current/first business for a little under two years. The biggest pro for me is the freedom however, at times, this is also the biggest con.
Running a business means you are required to wear all the hats of the business, even those areas that you have no experience in. That freedom comes at the cost of ensuring these areas are covered by you and you alone.
You quickly find out where your strengths and weaknesses lie. It’s a massive learning curve but a highly valuable one.
For those that have done either, what is the biggest pro and biggest con? If you had to look back would you have changed your mind?
