This is a very real thing and frankly doesn't surprise me one little bit.
From my 'helicopter view' of our Facebook group over the last seventeen years, I increasingly see very interesting behaviours within responses to some posts which might suggest some problems.
During the early stages of Covid I saw this a LOT which is probably very understandable. It subsequently calmed down but it's very noticeable again. Typically I'm seeing:
Increased caution in communication - some advisers being overly cautious around their own words around regulatory issues, resulting in very guarded language.
Short or abrupt responses and occasional impatience or terseness in replies, and sometimes responding defensively to routine questions or comments.
Change in tone with a noticeable shift from their usual tone to one that is more critical or negative.
Expressions of frustration or confusion, with comments that express irritation or exasperation about regulatory complexities/changes.
Seeking reassurance and asking for validation from peers about their understanding or compliance practices.
Hesitation to share opinions or overly wanting to post anonymously. And equally some people being overly critical of others who want to post anonymously.
As mentioned in a previous post, we will be sharing more posts and content around wellbeing here over the coming weeks as it's an important issue we should take seriously.
