Over the last twenty years, LifeTalk has established itself as a friendly and professional community for financial advice professionals. Many members have told us that the advice shared within the group has often been “life changing” for them.
For this to happen, members have stuck to a set of expected group standards.
1) The overwhelming majority of members do not tolerate bullying, rudeness, passive aggressive posts or degrading comments. Admin’s role is to support these members and to ensure that the group remains friendly, professional and fun.
2) Experience has shown that ‘holier-than-thou’ criticism of other adviser business models is not popular or helpful. Debate, but professionalism is the expected norm. Do not post links (including anonymously) to critical articles without including commentary and full context.
3) Only approved job promotions may be posted. If you are looking to post links to job opportunities, please contact Admin for pricing or approval.
4) The majority of members of LifeTalk give very much more to the group than they take. Self-promotion, spam and irrelevant links aren't allowed, other than officially sponsored posts which are marked #Sponsored or #Ad. Contact Admin if you would like information on advertising within the group or within our newsletter LifeTalk Insider.
5) Most members do not post anonymously, but it’s accepted that occasionally there is a need to. E.g. where you are considering changing employers and have a question that requires you to be anonymous. Please contact Admin in the first instance who, after review will post on your behalf.
6) From time to time members post content that, whilst on the surface may be humorous, can on occasion be offensive or inappropriate to others. In such cases, we may remove these posts.
7) On the rare occasion where a post or thread is becoming argumentative, do not prolong the discussion in the forum. You should always take the discussion offline or we may close comments without notice.
8) LifeTalk members feel particularly comfortable that this a private community, and trust and expect other members to maintain its privacy. If you share group posts, comments or screenshots outside this group without express permission of the poster AND Admin, you may be removed from the group without notice and without refund of your subscription.
9) You will not be admitted to the group if you use a false name. You will also be removed from the group if you subsequently change to a false name after being admitted. If you wish to post something anonymously, contact us as we have a way to help.
Group Admin's decision on any form of moderation is final and no correspondence will be entered into. This includes closing comments on threads, deleting posts, muting or removing members.
ANONYMOUS POSTS
The ability to post anonymously is an important and useful feature within our community, as there are often occasions where members need to do so. However the feature can sometimes be misused which can create mistrust.
So from today, anyone wishing to post anonymously should please first message Admin and we will then post it on your behalf after reviewing the need for anonymity. (From experience 98% of such posts usually have a valid reason.)
Please rest assured that your name will remain strictly private to Admin only (as was the case in our Facebook group).
Thanks again for your support.
