Practising Gratitude
Morning everyone, just thought as we enter a new year I would share something that helped me last year! (Will try keep it short, hard for me cause I can talk for Britain)
I really battled with anxiety and when practising gratitude would often focus on being grateful for family and friends around me- my CBT therapist noticed a pattern that I was actually then being really hard on myself because of this “I have got amazing family and friends so why am I so anxious, other people have it so much worse” etc.
Over time, I learned to find gratitude in the smallest of things- a pretty sky while out a walk, a new recipe I had cooked etc.
An app that helped me was “one second everyday”. The idea is you take a video or photo every single day for the year! My friend shared it with me and it did really help me, even in the toughest days to really LOOK and seek out the little wins and things that made me feel more at ease/ happy/ grateful.
This was in combination with a number of other things and different things work for different people but just thought I would share…
