Loop Engineering: what actually changes when the agent prompts itself

There are 4 floors of AI leverage.

Most agency builders are on Floor 1 or 2.

Floor 4 - loop engineering - is where the agent runs while you sleep.

Not automation in the IFTTT sense. A full cycle:

1. Agent reads a state file to understand where things are

2. It prompts itself with the next task

3. It executes, then runs a gate check (hard pass/fail)

4. A separate maker-checker agent reviews the output

5. State file updates. Loop continues or exits.

We demoed this live Friday using Claude Code.

One input. The loop handled the rest.

The key unlock: the gate check doesn't need to be a test suite. It just needs to return yes or no - without a human opinion.

Lead enrichment, SEO pipelines, research agents - all qualify.
