Brandex is developing a proposal for an Inclusive Assistive Technology for Early Childhood Care, Development and Education (ECCDE) system targeting children with disabilities in early learning centres.
We are looking for a technology partner who can help design and develop an AI-enabled, offline-first assistive learning platform for young children, teachers and caregivers.
The system should support children with visual, hearing, speech, mobility, cognitive, developmental and neurodiverse learning needs.
Core features required:
- Child learning app
- Interactive ECCDE learning activities
- Text-to-speech and audio instructions
- Picture/symbol-based communication support
- High-contrast and large-button interface
- Basic sign-language supported video content
- Adaptive learning levels for different abilities
- Offline use on low-cost tablets
- Learner profiles
- Attendance and participation tracking
- Progress monitoring by developmental milestone
- Ability to assign or adjust activities
- Simple reports for UNICEF/MoET monitoring
- Assistive communication tools
- Picture communication boards
- Voice output for selected words/phrases
- Customisable child-specific vocabulary
- Support for children who are nonspeaking or minimally speaking
- Ability to upload ECCDE stories, songs, numeracy, literacy and life-skills activities
- Support for English and SiSwati content
- Audio, images, videos and printable resources
- Accessibility and safeguarding
- Child-safe interface
- Minimal data collection
- Secure teacher login
- Parental consent features if child-level data is stored
- Compliance with accessibility best practice such as WCAG principles
We would like you to submit a short technical proposal covering:
- Recommended technology approach
- Whether you can build this as a web app, Android tablet app, or hybrid platform
- Offline functionality approach
- AI features you recommend, and which features should remain human-controlled
- Estimated development timeline
- Estimated cost for MVP and full pilot version
- Similar projects or demos you have built
- Ongoing support, hosting, maintenance and training costs
The first phase would likely be an MVP/demo prototype that can show our funding partner how the system would work before full national pilot development.
Kindly advise if your team has experience in assistive technology, education technology, AI learning tools, AAC communication tools, inclusive education, child-centred design, or accessibility-focused software.
Regards,
Lindo
“We are not looking for a generic learning app. We need an inclusive ECCDE assistive technology system that combines accessibility, adaptive learning, teacher monitoring, local language content and child safeguarding.”
