I have Build an Instagram DM Automations… But How Do I Get My First Client?

I’m currently focusing on Instagram DM automation — mainly for things like auto-replies, lead capture, FAQs, and booking flows.
I’m confident about building the automation, but I’m a bit confused about getting my first client.
Right now my main questions are:
- How did you get your first client?
- Did you start with free/discounted work, cold DMs, or referrals?
- Which niche worked best for you in the beginning?
- What would you do differently if you were starting again today?
