So many wounded people hide in churches under the radar of endurance theology — suffering silently, convinced their pain is deserved or somehow redemptive.
This is one of the most dangerous lies the Church has ever carried.
Endurance theology teaches people to normalize harm, quote scriptures as coping mechanisms, and call emotional shutdown “faith.” But pain is not a pathway to holiness. Suffering is not a sacrament. And God is not honored by our silence.
A trauma-informed church tells the truth:
God doesn’t heal what we hide — and we don’t have to bleed to belong.
Here, in the Leaning Into Healing community, we reject the theology that glorifies endurance over healing. We choose honesty, humanity, and wholeness.
How has endurance theology shown up in your life or spiritual journey?
