Selling at the Market
This was our first table at the local market.
One thing I’ve learned from farming and market life:
Growing the food is often not the hardest part.
Selling it is.
You can grow the most beautiful produce, raise amazing products, and work incredibly hard, but if you don’t already know who your buyers are, where your market is, or how you’re going to sell it… things can get difficult fast.
A lot of people focus only on production.
But if your goal is to create income from your land, you also need a marketing plan.
Some of the smartest growers I know:
• build relationships before planting
• grow intentionally for demand
• secure buyers early
• use preorders or contracts
• get paid before harvest even comes in
That changes everything.
It lowers risk, creates stability, and helps you grow with purpose instead of guessing.
Farming is not just growing food.
It’s building systems, relationships, and sustainability.
