「一つ質問があります, have you revisited the reasons you watched/ read when you were learning, and how did it affect the enjoyment of the thing? its been in my mind for a while. ありがとう🙏」- Rian
For me personally I did have a lot of content I enjoyed reading and watching in Japanese that I still enjoyed even though I couldn't understand most of what was being said.
At the beginning stages reading and watching native Japanese may feel difficult. I was no different, and much of the content I took in that I enjoyed before was difficult to enjoy the same way when I was using it to learn Japanese.
For me what solved this was...
- I found that finding completely new shows, playing new games, reading new types of books, listening to new types of music that I wouldn't have in English.
2. I made finding new words a game. Seeing how many new Kanji / words I could find in the content I enjoyed before, but was now consuming for the purpose of learning.
These 2 steps made my content more engaging and allowed me to enjoy ANY content that I was able to find every day.
