Kingdom Key - Point 35
I walk in humility and remain teachable before God and others.
“God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble.” — James 4:6
Kingdom Lesson
There is a quiet danger that can enter the life of any leader—the danger of arrival. It is the moment we believe we have learned enough, grown enough, and no longer need instruction. It is when we stop asking questions and begin relying solely on what we already know.
But Scripture is clear: God resists the proud. He does not simply withhold help—He opposes pride. There is no more dangerous place to be than moving forward while God is resisting you. Pride blinds, hardens, and isolates. But humility opens, softens, and positions us for grace.
Teachability is not a beginner’s trait—it is the mark of maturity. A wise person never stops learning. Proverbs tells us that a wise man will hear and increase learning. The moment we stop being teachable is the moment we stop growing.
Humility invites grace. And grace is not just favor—it is divine empowerment. It strengthens us, corrects us, and enables us to become what we could never become on our own. Scripture says to be clothed with humility, because it is the posture that positions us for God’s hand to lift us in due time.
We see the danger of pride in the life of King Uzziah. He began strong, seeking God and prospering. But when he became strong, his heart was lifted up. He stepped outside of his God-given role, rejected correction, and it led to his downfall. His story reminds us that success can be the very place where pride begins to grow if we are not careful.
Humility operates in two directions—before God and before others.
Before God, humility means allowing His Word to correct, shape, and transform us. Scripture is given for reproof and correction, not just encouragement. A humble heart welcomes truth, even when it challenges us.
Before others, humility means remaining open to counsel and instruction. It requires the ability to receive from those ahead of us, beside us, and even those behind us. Scripture teaches us to esteem others and remain low in our own eyes. The humble leader can learn from anyone.
Jesus Himself modeled this. He described His own heart as meek and lowly. If the Son of God walked in humility, we must as well.
I am reminded of something my mother used to say: a little education can make a person a fool—because the more you truly learn, the more you realize how much you do not know. That kind of perspective keeps a person humble, hungry, and growing.
For leaders and entrepreneurs, humility is essential. Success can create the illusion of self-sufficiency, but the truth is we never outgrow our need for God or for growth. The greatest leaders are not those who know everything—they are those who remain teachable in every season.
This Kingdom Key Point reminds us that humility is the pathway to growth, wisdom, and lasting influence. When we stay low before God and open before others, His grace continues to flow, and our lives continue to increase.
Kingdom Quote
When you stop being teachable, you stop growing.
Kingdom Prayer
Father, keep my heart humble and teachable. Help me remain open to Your Word, Your correction, and the voices You place in my life. Remove pride from me and fill me with Your grace so that I may continue to grow and walk in Your purpose. Amen.
