Kingdom Key - Point 29
My strength is renewed as I wait upon the Lord.
“But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles…” — Isaiah 40:31
Kingdom Lesson
On the surface, waiting can sound like doing nothing—a kind of spiritual pause while we hope things improve. But biblically, waiting is far deeper. The Hebrew word translated “wait” is qavah, which carries the image of being entwined—like strands of a rope twisted together. Waiting on the Lord is not passive; it is the intentional binding of our lives to Him.
When individual strands are twisted together, each one becomes stronger than it could ever be alone. The tension does not weaken the strand—it defines its strength. In the same way, when we intertwine our hearts, our will, and our trust with God, our weakness is joined to His strength. What was fragile becomes fortified because it is no longer standing alone.
This kind of waiting is not idle—it is positional. It is choosing to remain connected to God through prayer, His Word, worship, and obedience. A rope under tension is not inactive—it is holding, supporting, and bearing weight. That is the posture of a believer who waits on the Lord. We are not doing nothing—we are staying bound to the Source.
The renewal that Scripture promises flows from this connection. The word “renew” carries the idea of being exchanged or refreshed—like receiving new strength in place of what has been depleted. We do not manufacture this strength; we receive it. Just as a strand draws strength from the rope, we draw strength from our connection with God.
Isaiah describes three expressions of this renewed strength: mounting up, running, and walking. This shows that God strengthens us for every pace of life. There are seasons where we soar, seasons where we run, and seasons where we simply walk forward step by step. In each season, His strength is sufficient.
One of the greatest contrasts we must understand is the difference between cultural waiting and biblical waiting. Cultural waiting is often anxious, frustrated, and passive. Biblical waiting is active trust. Anxiety unravels us, but waiting in God weaves us back together. The more we remain connected to Him, the more stable and strong we become.
Personally, I have experienced this in a profound way. Over the past several years, what may have appeared to others as a pause in assignment was actually a season of deep preparation. During that time, I discovered a greater richness in God’s Word and developed a deeper prayer life. My sensitivity to His voice increased. What looked like a delay was actually a season of being more tightly entwined with Him.
God was not holding me back—He was strengthening me. The connection was deepening. The foundation was being reinforced. And from that place of waiting, strength was being renewed in a way that could not have been produced through activity alone.
This Kingdom Key Point reminds us that waiting is not weakness—it is strength in formation. When we bind ourselves to God, we draw from His unlimited supply. We are not delayed—we are being developed. And in that divine connection, the weary are renewed, the burdened are strengthened, and the waiting becomes worship.
Kingdom Quote
Waiting on God is not standing still—it is being strengthened by staying connected.
Kingdom Prayer
Father, teach me to wait upon You. Help me remain connected to You in every season. Renew my strength as I trust in You, and draw me closer so that my life is sustained by Your power and not my own. Amen.
