Psalm 1: 1-2
1 Happy are they who have not walked in the counsel of the wicked, nor lingered in the way of sinners, nor sat in the seats of the scornful!
2 Their delight is in the law of the Lord, and they meditate on his law day and night.
Notes from Bible study this morning:
Three things the happy don't do:
a) walk in the counsel of the wicked
b) linger in the way of sinners
c) sit in the seats of the scornful
If you do, it can rub off on you.
One thing they do is meditate on his law day and night. This is like repeating Scripture over and over until it's a part of you.
I'm much better at not walking, lingering, and sitting with the wicked than I am about doing the meditating. It's so easy for me to get distracted or fall asleep when I try to do that for long at one time. But that's what the scripture means for us to do. Maybe I should start with a short amount of time and work up to longer amounts of time. It might not be a bad idea to do some meditating as I am falling asleep at night. I've been counting backwards from 100 to keep my mind from flitting; however, meditating on Scripture might be better. Something to think about.
Anyone else have any thoughts?
