We're looking for someone manage all things operations at Hookdeck. This role extends beyond traditional operations—you'll be the right arm to the CEO, getting involved in customer conversations, pricing discussions, data analysis, and more.
You'll own the operational foundation that enables Hookdeck to scale, working closely with the CEO to ensure everything runs smoothly from legal and finance to hiring and customer relationships. This is a hands-on role where you'll touch many different areas of the business.
We are looking for someone who is resourceful, willing to learn and get involved in many different areas of operating and growing a startup. Your resourcefulness will be key to your success in this role. You'll be expected to be able to dive into many different areas of the business, some of which you may have limited experience with.
This is an ideal role for someone who aspires to become a founder down the road, wants exposure to the operational reality of startups and want in a highly technicaly environment.
This role is based in Montreal (where the founders and company is based) but we do not have a physical office as the rest the team is distributed across the world.
About Hookdeck#
Hookdeck provides event infrastructure that ensures reliable, scalable, and observable event ingestion and routing for modern applications. Acting as a gateway between webhook providers and your backend, Hookdeck prevents dropped events, mitigates system overload, and simplifies event management with queueing, throughput control, and monitoring. Our flagship product, the Event Gateway hosts thousands of companies and developers and processes billions of events per month.

About You#
You're resourceful and comfortable working across many different domains. You're technically curious and not intimidated by tools or databases—you'll dig into our systems to find the answers you need. You're a self-starter who can take ownership of complex, multi-faceted projects and see them through to completion. You feel comfortable researching and learning on topics you don't master yet.
Responsibilities#
  • Legal & Compliance — Manage contracts, legal documentation, and ensure compliance across all operations
  • Accounting & Finance — Oversee financial operations, budgeting, and work with external accounting partners
  • Investor Relations — Maintain relationships with investors, prepare reports, and coordinate communications
  • Hiring & People Ops — Manage the hiring process, coordinate interviews, and support people operations
  • Contract Management — Handle vendor contracts, customer agreements, and other legal documents
  • Customer Engagement — Participate in customer conversations, contract negotiations, surveys and interviews, support requests, etc.
  • Data Analysis — Query databases, analyze metrics, and provide insights to support decision-making. Support the team in answering questions about our customers, our business, and our products. Maintain BI dashboard and reports.
  • Operational Excellence — Identify and implement process improvements across all operational areas
Example Projects#
  • Streamline our contract management process and implement a system for tracking and renewals
  • Analyze customer usage data to inform pricing strategy discussions
  • Coordinate a fundraising round, including investor communications and due diligence
  • Implement systems to manage failed payments and payment recovery for delinquent customers
  • Improve our financial modeling and forecasting to model different growth and hiring scenarios
  • Support our CTO to implement new security and compliance procedures to attain new certifications
  • Negotiate vendor contracts and manage vendor relationships
What We're Looking For#
  • Highly curious and resourceful with a strong desire to learn and grow
  • Broad thinker, that can consider implications of decisions and actions across many different areas of the business
  • Well structured and organized, with a strong attention to detail
  • Comfortable with data analysis and querying databases (SQL experience is a plus)
  • Technically curious and willing to learn new tools and systems, doesn't shy away from a good technical challenge
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
