If You Think Jesus Came to Fix Your Life, Read Matthew Again
Matthew’s first readers had waited a thousand years for the King God promised David. They expected the promised savior to deliver them from Rome. But the first time anybody speaks in Matthew’s gospel, a different enemy is named. Hop in this thread either by dropping questions and thoughts you have as we begin, or by asking your own questions. 1. Before this episode, what did you open Matthew looking for? 1. Matthew kept “the tax collector” next to his name in chapter 10. How does that make you feel about the labels people attach to your name? Next episode: Matthew 1:1-17.
