I am retiring very soon and want to learn more about jazz guitar. I've never heard any of the jazz standards. When I think of jazz, I think of Return to Forever.

My name is Soroush, I am 23 and I have been a classical guitar player since I was 8. It's been several years now that I enjoy jazz in general, because it is a very interesting and emotional genre and also because of the community of it. I mean as a classical guitarist you don't really get any "community" in that sense. Anyway, I have been using this website jazzguitarlessons.net and I found it really usefull, especially compared to other tutorials that you might find elsewhere, especifically because of the fact that you get a very good overview of what jazz is all about, as apposed to many other sources that don't do that, and rather stick to a unidimentional non-contextual way of looking at it. So I feel very grateful and happy to have found this community. Hope to grow with everyone else here. Looking forward to it. :)

Did a quick review of the Quickstart and 1 to 5 of the crash course. Good stuff thanks Marc. I know already I'm going to have to zero in on not stopping.

Hi Marc thank you for this group. I joined this group this week and have been so overwhelmed by the the wealth of resources that I have to steal time to actually play the guitar. I'm going to have to divide my time more strictly between playing guitar and researching these resources. So I'm afraid no videos from me this week.

Good Afternoon, My name is Rick Flink and I've been playing guitar for 60 years. My background is mostly rhythm guitar playing and I've played in oldies rock bands and mostly in Country bands. At 72 years of age, I've decided that I need to learn how to plays jazz and blues. Jazz first because I love the intricacies in involved with the chords, the playing of the melody line within the chords and the rhythms of the beat. Thank you for allowing me this opportunity. Rick

Thanks for acceptingThanks for accepting. I'm from Brazil, and besides being a composer I'm entering the world of Jazz Guitar. I like the genre a lot, because I compose some bossas style that is a cousin of Jazz. I'm starting a website, it will be live soon. When it is, I will present it to the Group. Grateful.
