The movie 「国宝（こくほう）」 has become a huge hit in Japan.
It tells the story of a young boy who enters the world of 歌舞伎（かぶき) and grows up to become a 人間国宝（にんげんこくほう）, a “Living National Treasure.”
Since its release in June, more than 12 million people in Japan have seen the film.
Its total revenue reached 173.7 billion yen, making it the highest-earning Japanese movie that is not an anime.
The actors trained hard and performed kabuki themselves, and many viewers said it was excellent.
Because of this movie, more people are now interested in watching kabuki on stage.
