Most kids are taught how to swing, throw, and field, but very few are ever taught how to think about the game. It’s not a talent issue. It’s a game understanding issue.
After 15 years of teaching and coaching in physical education, one thing became clear:
Kids are staying active—but many aren’t truly learning the games they’re playing.
In today’s schools, PE often focuses on movement, participation, and general activity. Those are important—but they can leave less time for intentional teaching of rules, strategy, and game understanding.
That’s why so many young players:
- Freeze when the ball is hit to them
- Don’t know where to throw
- Get frustrated or lose confidence
- Feel “behind” even if they have good effort
That is why we have constructed Diamond Minds - to bridge the gap for those serious about play on the diamond. This isn’t theory—it’s built from years of being in the gym, on the field, and working directly with kids.
