Answer:
Unlike Apex, Topstep does NOT convert minis to micros for contract limits! Apex 1 mini =10 micros - TopStep 1 mini = 1 micro. Apex 50k limit is 10 minis, or 100 micros. Topstep 50k limit is 5 minis, or 5 (still) micros.

Hello. Earlier this afternoon, I noticed the algorithm sent in some orders tradovate rejected. Didn't think much anything of it.
Now on lunch I wanted to dig into it, as to "WHY".
Here's screenshots of the two trades on 1 minute candles and tradovate report. *Order block is just the trade it did take, I heard in aftermarket review video it was turned off, so that's why there was the flattened market sell at the top of the hour*
I took this info to Topstep and got this answer - screenshots included: basically whether it is Minis or Micros, the max amount one can be trading (for 50k) at a time is 5.
From my understanding, Apex does the standard 10-1 on mini-micro; So 100 micros contracts to 10 minis (even though we are not getting close to that).
I see Topstep allows it ONLY on their own platform, TopStep X.
I was wondering if this involves TopSteps scaling rules, or if there's any particular reason behind this...if someone could better explain it. 🤷
Apologies for long post. Hopefully this is thorough enough. Thanks for any insight!
