UNDERSTANDING INNER IDOL OF BA‘L.
What This Inner State Is?
This is the inner state where identity-protection becomes the authority. It is not ignorance. It is choosing loyalty to the self-image after insight is already present. Its Three Components
- Denial: Seeing the truth but refusing to accept it.
- Justification: Defending the self-image with reasons, excuses, or blame.
- Entitlement: Deciding that the self does not need to change.
Together, these three place identity-protection in control.
Example:
Someone calmly points out your mistake. For a brief moment, you recognise they may be right.
Then the body tightens. The mind responds, “They don’t understand.”
You begin to explain, defend, and finally conclude,
“I am fine as I am.”
In that moment, identity-protection is obeyed and inner growth is abandoned. This is the state where self-preservation of image replaces self-refinement.
