Topic: Asking for Directions (simple + very useful)
1) Mini Dialogue (English → Portuguese)
You: Hi, excuse me. Can you help me?
Person: Sure. What do you need?
You: Where is the nearest subway station?
Person: It’s two blocks away.
You: Sorry—two blocks?
Person: Yes. Go straight and turn left at the corner.
You: Okay. Is it far?
Person: No, it’s not far. About a 5-minute walk.
You: Great, thank you so much.
Person: No problem!
Portuguese (natural translation):
Você: Oi, com licença. Você pode me ajudar?
Pessoa: Claro. O que você precisa?
Você: Onde fica a estação de metrô mais próxima?
Pessoa: Fica a dois quarteirões daqui.
Você: Desculpa — dois quarteirões?
Pessoa: Sim. Vá reto e vire à esquerda na esquina.
Você: Tá bom. É longe?
Pessoa: Não, não é longe. Uns 5 minutos andando.
Você: Ótimo, muito obrigado(a).
Pessoa: De nada!
2) Beginner Words & Phrases
- Excuse me = Com licença
- Can you help me? = Você pode me ajudar?
- Where is…? = Onde fica…?
- nearest = mais próximo(a)
- subway station = estação de metrô
- two blocks = dois quarteirões
- Go straight = Vá reto
- Turn left / right = Vire à esquerda / direita
- at the corner = na esquina
- Is it far? = É longe?
- About a 5-minute walk = Uns 5 minutos andando
- No problem = De nada / Sem problema
3) Speak Challenge (repeat out loud)
- Excuse me. Can you help me?
- Where is the nearest subway station?
- Go straight and turn left.
- Is it far?
- Thank you so much!
