I am in the process of writing an essay on the long game.
What it means to not focus on instant gratification, success, and results, and to instead build deeper roots, deeper work and to find deeper satisfaction in the day to day as a result.
Ironically, the long game in action looks like creating a process towards the direction you'd like to go in life that is so enjoyable, the end result feels like a cherry on top and not something essential. Yet, in our do or die culture, we put our goals, success, etc. on a pedestal and don't allow ourselves gratification until each and every facet of that success is achieved.
Being present in the moment means taking in the joys, mundanity, and challenges immediately in front of you and giving them the moment of presence, attention, and care they deserve. That is self is a radical culture shaping act.
So you tell me, where is it easy for you to be present and where do you struggle?
