Back to Basics
After 11 years with the same district, I moved to my hometown school district this year. It’s been a bit of a culture shock. My previous district was a small three a district in a rural part of Texas My hometown, while still kind of rural the district, is the largest in the county. It’s easily more than twice the size of where I was. Our theme this year is back to basics with a play on the back to the future movie. They’re focusing on connecting with students and good teaching practices. I only heard a couple of buzz words so far and we only have one more day to go. Today we had our campus level trainings and I felt just as comfortable there as I did at my previous district. I think I made the right choice. I hope the rest of the year goes as well as staff development has this week.
