The Internet Engineering & Infrastructure Strategic Initiative
This community exists for one purpose: to make everyone in it better at building and operating internet infrastructure.
1. Operational experience over opinion
Share what you've actually done, not just what you think is theoretically correct. Reference RFCs, deployment data, and your own networks.
2. No stupid questions
Senior engineers were junior engineers once. If you're hesitating to ask something because it feels basic — ask it anyway.
3. Vendor neutrality
This is not a Cisco, Juniper, or Nokia community. Solutions are evaluated on operational merits. Vendor wars belong elsewhere.
4. Cite your sources
If you're referencing an RFC, a deployment report, or a vendor advisory — link it. Primary sources matter here.
5. No recruitment or spam
Job postings go in #jobs-and-opportunities only. No unsolicited DMs about commercial products.
6. Respect the room
This community spans time zones, cultures, and career stages. Technical disagreements are welcome. Personal attacks are not.
7. Give before you take
The level system rewards contribution for a reason. The more you put in, the more everyone gets out.
