So ask yourself a harder question than “What did I do today?” Ask “What did today actually produce?”

Revenue-generating activities are the actions that directly create value: creating content people want, developing skills, serving customers, improving systems, and building connections that open new possibilities. Everything else is motion.

I have caught myself in this trap more than once. Reorganizing tools. Polishing something nobody asked for. Answering messages that could have waited until Friday. It all felt like work. None of it built anything.

The Samurai was all about efficiency and cutting what does not serve the mission. When you focus on the activities that produce results that turn into revenue and, more importantly, profit, you stop confusing busyness with productivity. Your time becomes an investment rather than just an expense.

Here’s your ACTION STEP: At the end of today, write down everything you did and mark each item RGA (revenue-generating activity) or not. If fewer than half of your working hours earned the mark, pick one non-revenue-generating task and eliminate, automate, or delegate it tomorrow. This test matters because growth does not come from doing more. It comes from doing more of what compounds into revenue and profit.
