How do you figure out if a basement can be rented legally?
I keep seeing people turn their basements into rentals, but I’ve heard the rules can get tricky depending on where you live.
How do you figure out if a basement can legally be rented out? Do you just call the city? Or is there some checklist for things like ceiling height, windows, permits, etc.?
Curious what others have run int, any surprises or lessons learned before someone goes all-in on a basement unit that can’t actually be rented?
