This is the leadership I want to model. Read this piece by Dave Miller.
Dave's my business partner, my mentor, and the bloke I lean on more than anyone in this space. Twenty plus years on construction sites. Real decisions under real pressure. Real consequences when you get it wrong. That's the foundation his AI work is built on, and it's why what we do together actually moves the needle.
The line that hit me:
"Building real AI systems is a leadership problem, not a technology problem."
I did the course. So have plenty of others. The course was the entry point, nothing more. Everything I actually know now, every skill I've sharpened, every system I've built that works, came from showing up and working alongside Dave and Jeff. Courses hand you the playbook. The right people teach you when to use it and when to bin it.
If you've spent fifteen, twenty years building something real in the physical world, this piece will hit different. Dave gives you permission to bring who you already are into AI, instead of pretending you need to become someone else to use it.
Honestly, after reading it again, I reckon the man deserves a helmet for Christmas. The amount of brain picking I do, his head's at risk of structural damage.
