Max trudged into the garage, his steel-toed boots echoing off the concrete floor. The smell of diesel fuel and motor oil enveloped him, a familiar comfort. He'd been a heavy-duty diesel mechanic for over a decade, and the work still got under his skin.
As he clocked in, his phone buzzed. A new job: a Freightliner M2 with a wonky ECM. Max grinned. He loved the challenge.
Hours later, grease-stained and triumphant, Max fired up the engine. The M2 roared to life, its purr a symphony to his ears. "You're good to go," he said, wiping his hands on his jeans.
The owner, a grizzled trucker, shook Max's hand. "Thanks, kid. You're a lifesaver." Max smiled, the job's reality setting in – this was more than just fixing trucks; it was keeping people moving.
